Chomutov Zoo

Chomutov Zoo is a large animal park in northern Czech Republic with different sections for European and exotic species. The various zones feature natural habitats that you can explore aboard a train that winds through the grounds for close animal viewing.

The zoo was founded in 1975 and grew from a small local facility into a recognized conservation center. Over the decades, it developed into an important place for protecting endangered animal species from Europe and beyond.

The zoo grounds house rare species like Przewalski horses and Siberian saiga antelopes in conditions that closely mimic their wild habitats. These animals are seldom seen in Europe and play an important role in international protection efforts.
