Chomutov

Chomutov sits on flat terrain at the foot of the Ore Mountains, with the Chomutovka River running through its central districts. The city extends across multiple neighborhoods featuring buildings from different periods.

The Teutonic Knights established their post here in 1252 and built the Gothic Church of St Catherine, which stands today. This early settlement later developed into an important trading center.

The historic center holds preserved Gothic and Baroque buildings with arcaded structures around the main square, which shape the everyday rhythm of the place.
