Museum of Farming Machinery Čáslav, Agricultural machinery museum in Čáslav, Czech Republic

The Museum of Farming Machinery in Čáslav displays tractors, harvesters, and agricultural equipment from different time periods. The collection shows how tools and machines evolved to help farmers work the fields more efficiently.

The collections of historic farm machinery grew from the 1950s, when the museum began acquiring retired machines; a Praga K motor plough arrived in 1957 and the first tractor, an American Fordson, in 1970. In 2003 the museum gained its permanent home in Čáslav, in a former military vehicle depot and store from the 1950s. A new exhibition hall followed in 2010 and a low-cost depository opened on 30 November 2021.

The museum's name for its main exhibition, "Dřinu strojům? Dřinu strojům!", comes from a slogan of the First Republic era. The collection holds the ruchadlo, the plough invented by the Veverka cousins, and the steam ploughing set Přemysl a Libuše, which worked until 1972. Each June the Pradědečkův traktor event runs working exhibits.

The site is accessible by road and offers guided tours for visitors who want to learn more. It is helpful to call ahead about tour times, especially if you are visiting with a larger group.

The museum holds the ruchadlo, the plough designed by the Veverka cousins, and a complete Fowler steam ploughing set called Přemysl and Libuše, taken over in 1972 from the Katusice state farm when it stopped steam cable ploughing. The set is kept in working order.
