Piaristická kolej, Former Piarist college in Kosmonosy, Czech Republic.
Piaristická kolej is a four-wing civic building with a courtyard surrounded by arcades located next to the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Kosmonosy. The structure displays classical proportions with open colonnades running along the central inner courtyard.
Count Herman Cerník of Chudenice founded the college in 1688, recruiting teachers from the Ostrov monastery near Karlovy Vary. The institution later developed into a significant center for education and cultural activities.
The building served as a center for artistic expression and learning within the community. Residents engaged in theater, music, and choir performances that enriched life within the college.
The building currently operates as a psychiatric hospital and is not open for public visits. Visitors can observe the exterior architecture and its setting next to the church from the outside.
The college operated its own school between 1688 and 1784 with roughly 100 students divided into five class levels. This small educational facility shaped the region's schooling landscape for more than a century.
