The protected area contains sand dunes covered by pine forest, forming a series of 14 distinct wave patterns across 7 hectares of land.
Established in May 1982, the sand dunes originated during the Late Pleistocene or Holocene period after the retreat of glaciers in the region.
The site represents a natural monument within the Pardubice Region, demonstrating the geological evolution of the Czech landscape through its sand formations.
Located 10 kilometers from Hradec Králové, visitors can access the reserve via the road connecting Rokytno to Býšť in approximately 30 minutes.
The sand dunes of Přesypy u Rokytna form the largest desert area in the Czech Republic, with various native plant species adapting to sandy conditions.
