Přesypy u Rokytna

Přesypy u Rokytna is a protected nature reserve featuring sand dunes covered by pine forest spreading across roughly 7 hectares. The dunes create about 14 distinct wave patterns that ripple across the landscape.

This reserve was established in May 1982 to protect a landscape form that originated in the late glacial or early post-glacial period. The sand dunes formed after the retreat of glaciers in the region.

This place is recognized as a natural monument in the Pardubice Region and shows how the landscape has been shaped by natural processes over time. Visitors can observe the special plants that have adapted to survive in sandy soil.

Access is via the road connecting Rokytno and Býšť, which makes reaching the site straightforward. Plan your visit to allow time for exploring the different dune formations across the terrain.

This area holds the largest desert landscape in the Czech Republic, a surprising geology for a Central European country. The sandy conditions create an unusual habitat that is rarely found in this region.
