Upper mill

This watermill along the Bytovka River features a water wheel system that powered grain processing machinery. The structure houses original milling equipment and mechanical parts that demonstrate how grain was transformed into flour.

The mill was built in the early 19th century to replace older wooden structures in the area. Over time it shifted from grain processing to heavier industrial work with metal and tools.

The mill reflects how rural communities depended on water power for daily work and food production. Local families would bring grain here, making it a gathering place within the village rhythm.

The site is easiest to reach on foot from the village and sits right beside the river. The ground can be wet and slippery in places, so wear suitable footwear when visiting.

The building still contains its original water wheel and the mechanical systems that operated for generations. These preserved drive mechanisms show how 19th-century engineers worked with water and stone to power their machines.
