Prírodný park Bobrava, Nature park in Brno-Country District, Czech Republic
The Bobrava Nature Park spreads across forested areas between eleven municipalities with valleys, meadows, and natural woodlands along the Bobrava River. The landscape shifts between open fields and dense forest stands cut through by several streams.
The park was established as a protected area in January 1982 and contains remains of a medieval fortress from 1349 on Bucin Hill. Fragments of several historic water mills still stand in the river valley.
The protected area reflects traditional farming patterns and forest types that shape the South Moravian countryside, showing how the region has been worked and managed over time.
The area can be accessed from several railway stations including Strelice, Omice, Tetcice, Siluvky, and Radostice, with bus connections serving other entry points. Wear sturdy footwear and check conditions before visiting, as paths can become muddy after rain.
The area supports about 98 bird species including black storks and ravens, along with large populations of common toads and agile frogs during spring migration. This wildlife richness makes the park an important site for observing migration patterns in Central Europe.
