Prírodný park Podkomorské lesy, Nature park in Brno region, Czech Republic.
Prírodný park Podkomorské lesy is a nature park in the Brno region stretching across the northern Bobrava Highlands. It borders the districts of Žebětín, Bystrc, and Kníničky and contains three nature reserves and three natural monuments throughout its territory.
The protected area was officially established on November 1, 1989, during a pivotal moment in Czechoslovak history. This founding date reflects the period of significant political and environmental change in the region.
The forest park serves as a demonstration site for sustainable forestry, showing how timber production and environmental protection work together. Visitors can observe this balance while walking through different sections of woodland.
Several hiking trails cross the park with routes suitable for different experience levels and time availability. It is best to follow marked paths and be aware of weather conditions, especially in wetter months when trails can become slippery.
The area contains many small streams that are part of the Svratka River basin, winding through the landscape. These hidden waterways support much of the biological diversity and create small ecosystems within the forest.
