Rozhledna Barborka, Observation tower in Svinčany, Czech Republic.
Rozhledna Barborka is a wooden and steel observation tower in Svinčany, rising about 14 meters with a viewing platform positioned at 10 meters high. A staircase of 47 steps leads to the platform, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Construction of the tower began in 2003 as part of a regional cycling route development project funded by the Pardubice Region. It was built to enhance tourism infrastructure in the area.
The name Barborka references Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners, linking it to the area's stone mining heritage. Today, visitors can sense this industrial past reflected in the landscape around the structure.
The tower opens daily from June through September between 9:00 and 19:00, with weekend-only access during spring and autumn months. Visitors should check the season when planning a visit to ensure access.
On clear days, the view from the platform reveals several major mountain ranges: the Iron Mountains, Eagle Mountains, and Giant Mountains are all visible from here. The Elbe River valley spreads out below in the distance.
