Maják Járy Cimrmana

Maják Járy Cimrmana is a wooden observation tower in Kořenov that rises approximately 24 meters and blends modern design with lighthouse-like features. The structure serves both as a viewing point and a cultural museum housing exhibits about the fictional character Jára Cimrman.

The tower was built by the architecture group Huť Architektury led by Martin Rajníš in the mountainous region of Kořenov. The project emerged as part of developing the area as a destination for mountain visitors and cultural tourism.

The tower takes its name from Jára Cimrman, a fictional Czech character who holds a special place in the national culture as a symbol of creativity and wit. Visitors can explore exhibits about this legendary figure and discover why he remains so central to how people think about Czech identity.

The tower sits at the intersection of several hiking paths and is accessible throughout the year, with connections to both the Krkonoš and Jizerské mountain ranges. Access is straightforward for visitors already traveling on local trails.

The tower was deliberately designed to resemble a lighthouse despite being in the mountains far from any sea, reflecting Czech love for humorous and absurd architecture. This playful idea fits perfectly with the building's theme dedicated to the fictional inventor and artist Jára Cimrman.
