Čertí kopeček, Extinct volcano in Koberovy, Czech Republic
Čertí kopeček is a cone-shaped hill near Koberovy village standing at approximately 433 meters (1,421 ft) and displaying pyroclastic rock outcrops at several locations on its slopes. The exposed rock layers show the angular fragments and layered structure characteristic of volcanic eruption deposits.
The hill formed through phreatomagmatic eruptions where magma met groundwater, triggering explosive reactions that scattered volcanic material. Over time these eruption fragments accumulated and consolidated into the geological structure visible today.
The hill's name reflects local folklore about unusual geological formations and how people traditionally understood dramatic landscape features. Its position within the Bohemian Paradise connects it to a region where residents have long recognized the value of natural places.
The hill sits directly adjacent to Koberovy village and is easily reached from the settlement with parking spaces available nearby. The moderate slope and cone shape allow visitors to approach from different directions depending on preferred routes.
The rock composition here is notably rich in carbonate materials, visible in the angular fragments scattered across the summit. This mineral characteristic sets this formation apart from many similar geological sites in the surrounding area.
