Курим, Administrative district in Brno-Country, Czech Republic

Kurim is an administrative district in the Brno-Country region, extending roughly 14 kilometers northwest of Brno. The landscape reaches into the Drahany Highlands, where Kurimska hora peak rises to 435 meters (1,428 feet).

The first written mention comes from 1226 when King Ottokar I issued a charter for tithe payments to the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. This early document shows that the settlement held importance as an established community in the High Middle Ages.

The Renaissance castle emerged from a medieval fortress transformed between 1592 and 1594 and now serves as a school building. The courtyard hosts cultural events regularly and has become a gathering place for the community.

The northern industrial zone is home to TE Connectivity Czech as the main employer and provides jobs for many residents. Railway connections link the district to nearby towns like Tisnov, Zidlochovice, and Krizanov, making it easy to travel.

On Kurimska hora hill stands a water chapel dedicated to John of Nepomuk built in 1722, along with a statue of Saint Florian from 1679 nearby. These two monuments reflect a long connection between pilgrimage traditions and local protection beliefs that visitors can still observe today.
