Rozhledna Romanka, Observation tower in Hrubý Jeseník, Czech Republic
Rozhledna Romanka is an observation tower with a triangular base that rises 54 meters above the ground. The climb to the viewing platforms uses 116 metal steps, with the highest platform located at approximately 26 meters.
The tower was completed in 2003 and later received recognition in landscape architecture at an architectural award. The project emerged as a modern addition to the existing landscape in the region.
The tower takes its name from a local girl who watched the construction with her grandfather during the building phase. This connection to everyday people gives the structure a personal story that goes beyond its function.
You climb metal grate stairs to reach the highest viewing platform, which can be physically demanding. The tower opens daily during summer but operates only on weekends in spring and fall.
The tower sits on an artificial hill at just 204 meters above sea level, making it the lowest-positioned observation tower in the Czech Republic. Despite this modest elevation, the structure still offers views across the surrounding landscape.
