Přibyslav Castle is a Neoclassical château standing on elevated ground in Bohemia that was originally built as a fortress. The building features two courtyards with Tuscan-style columns and retains architectural details from several centuries of use.
Zachariáš of Hradec built the castle in 1560 as a military stronghold that was later converted into a residential château. This transformation happened when the region was no longer threatened by the conflicts that had marked earlier decades.
The castle houses a Fireman Museum where you can see firefighting equipment and tools from different periods of Czech history. Walking through the rooms, you notice how fire-fighting technology changed over time.
The castle is accessible daily from April through October with guided tours available in Czech and English. During winter months, visitors can only enter with advance reservations made beforehand.
The castle incorporates structural elements from the silver mining industry that once shaped the region. These mining elements are visible in the building's foundations and underground chambers.
