Construction of the church started in 1473 with support from Kadaň inhabitants and the House of Vitzhum, completing the sanctuary by 1480.
The church walls contain Gothic and Renaissance paintings connected to the Lucas Cranach school, representing religious art from different periods.
Located on Jana Švermy Street in Kadaň, the church functions as part of the Municipal Museum, displaying exhibits about monastic life.
During the 18th century, the church provided shelter to anti-Habsburg soldiers, marking a departure from its traditional religious function.
