Chomoutovské Lake is a shallow water body spanning about 85 hectares with several small islands surrounded by dense shoreline plants. Much of the perimeter is lined with thick vegetation and reedy growth.
The lake formed from extraction operations for gravel and sand that started before World War II and expanded significantly during the 1960s. These mining activities gradually created the present water body.

A wooden observation platform is available on the shore for viewing birds, though swimming is not permitted here. Bring binoculars and wear weather-appropriate clothing, as visiting conditions vary throughout the year.
