Úpravna vody Podhradí, Water treatment facility in Podhradí, Czech Republic
The water treatment plant features two symmetrical processing lines with 26 filtration units covering a total area of 1,872 square meters.
Construction began in 1954 following a government resolution to build a water system from Kružberk dam, reaching operational status by the end of 1958.
The building displays a large relief titled 'Water in Our Life' created by national artist Vincenc Makovský between 1961 and 1964.
The facility processes water through sand filters, adding aluminum sulfate, chlorine dioxide, and potassium permanganate when necessary for purification.
Since its establishment until 2019, the plant produced 2.4 billion cubic meters of drinking water, serving 66 municipalities in the Moravian-Silesian region.
