Hanzlův mlýn, Watermill ruins in Radkov, Czech Republic
Hanzlův mlýn is a ruined watermill near Radkov built beside a stream that once powered its grinding equipment. Stone foundations and partial walls remain visible, showing how the flowing water activated the mill's mechanism for processing grain.
The mill was founded in 1447 and operated for several centuries as a grain processing center for surrounding communities. It remained in use through changing times until eventually falling into disrepair.
The mill served as a gathering place where local farmers brought their grain and shared news about their harvests and farming practices. It was an important part of village life for generations.
You can reach the ruins by following a marked path from Radkov village center. There is parking near the main square about 500 meters away, and the walk takes only a few minutes.
Parts of the original water channel system are still visible at the site, revealing medieval engineering methods used in Central European mills. These water systems show how millers skillfully controlled water flow to power their machinery.
