Rose Garden

The rose garden is a collection of different rose varieties arranged in structured beds within the park grounds of Konopiště Castle. The plants grow in geometric patterns, creating an orderly appearance with multiple layers of colors and bloom forms.

The garden was established in 1913 as part of the extensive grounds surrounding Konopiště Castle, which originates from the 13th century. Its creation followed a period of major renovation of the castle and intensified attention to its surrounding landscape design.

The garden displays features of a traditional European formal design with geometric patterns and orderly beds that reflect horticultural ideals of its era. Visitors can observe how the structured layout shapes movement through the space and how people interact with the carefully tended plantings.

The garden is best visited during spring and summer months when the roses are in bloom and displaying their colors. Access is through the castle grounds, and comfortable shoes are recommended since you walk along maintained pathways.

The original 1913 layout remains visible today, showing how gardens of that period were planned and organized. The symmetrical paths and beds were designed to integrate into the larger parkland while maintaining their own geometric character.
