Sluneční věž, Modern residential tower in Karlín, Prague, Czech Republic.
Sluneční věž is a modern residential tower in Karlín featuring 21 floors that rise to about 70 meters. A glass exterior wrapped with aluminum sunshade systems protects the interior from sun exposure while allowing natural light inside.
Construction took place between 2008 and 2011, introducing a contemporary design approach to the Karlín district. This project represented new architectural thinking for the neighborhood at that time.
The building design follows avant-garde postmodern principles, creating a distinctive silhouette in Prague's architectural landscape alongside structures like the Dancing House.
The building contains about 30 apartments of varying sizes, though some floors have been converted to office space. Walking around the perimeter gives you views of the surrounding neighborhood and the river.
Many units offer direct views toward Prague Castle, a feature residents and visitors often overlook. This sightline makes the tower special in Karlín's skyline when you observe it from nearby streets.
