Mrakodrap

Mrakodrap is an office building in Jižní Předměstí with sixteen floors and a height of about 77 meters, featuring clean lines and concrete facades throughout. The interior is divided into multiple levels designed to serve various office functions.

Construction began in 1924, creating one of Central Europe's first tall office buildings during the age of modern industry. The building documents a turning point in European architecture during the pre-war period.

The building displays Constructivist design language from the 1920s and continues to shape the neighborhood's character today. Its geometric facades and concrete-steel construction represented a completely new architectural expression for Plzeň at the time.

The building is located at a central point in the neighborhood and is easily accessible on foot from nearby streets. The facade can be admired from outside since it functions as an important monument within the public space.

The building was equipped with independent heating and ventilation systems on each floor, a technological solution that was highly advanced for that era. This feature allowed much better control over energy use and comfort for office workers.
