Pravoslavný chrám svatého Mikuláše v Mikulově

The Church of Saint Nicholas is an Orthodox church with neogothic architecture featuring a four-sided tower adorned with decorative plaster work and brick elements. The structure combines historical architectural forms with handcrafted details that define its exterior.

The church was originally built in 1903 for German Evangelical worshippers and underwent significant transformation after World War II. It came into the hands of the Brno Orthodox Church in 1988 and has served as an Orthodox place of worship since then.

The interior displays early Christian paintings created by artist Joža Úprka and later restored following Orthodox traditions. These artworks shape the spiritual character of the space and reflect the cultural heritage of the congregation.

The church is located near Mikulov railway station on the Brno-Vienna route and welcomes visitors who observe flexible visiting arrangements. It is best to arrange a visit in advance to ensure access to the interior.

The interior houses a crystal crown chandelier from Harrachov glassworks that was presented to the congregation as a gift from Russian Tsar Nicholas II. This glass artwork is a notable remnant of a historical connection between Russia and the location.
