Chotýšany, Baroque château in Chotýšany, Czech Republic.
Chotýšany is a baroque château located in the Chotýšany municipality in the Czech Republic. The building features a southern baroque wing alongside a northern neo-Gothic wing that was added during the 1800s.
The château was built in the first half of the 1700s on the site of a medieval fortress. Later expansion in the 1800s introduced neo-Gothic elements that changed its appearance.
The structure represents the architectural transition between baroque and neo-Gothic styles, reflecting changing design preferences in Central Europe.
The château is currently closed to visitors as it is protected as a cultural monument undergoing restoration work. The site is located roughly 40 kilometers southeast of Prague and can be viewed from the exterior.
The château grounds border the Chotýšanka river, which runs through the municipality. This riverside location provided natural advantages for the original fortress that once stood here.
