Kersko, Natural monument in Hradištko, Czech Republic

Kersko is a protected natural area near Hradistko featuring mixed woodlands, meadows, and wetland habitats. The landscape supports diverse plant and animal communities across different ecological zones throughout the site.

Kersko was declared a nature monument on 11 November 2016, with the declaration updated on 21 March 2017. The protected area covers 217.6122 hectares, and its legally established buffer zone covers 53.5337 hectares. Since 2009 and 2013 it has also been protected as a Natura 2000 site of European importance.

The Krajský úřad Středočeského kraje maintains this natural monument, ensuring the preservation of its environmental elements for future generations.

The site can be reached from several entry points around the area. Spring and autumn are good times to visit when wildlife is active and trails are easily passable.

Near the northern edge of the protected area stands a Scots pine known as Krásná Pepina; beside it is the torso of Švarná Tonka, a pine that grew here until 2007, when it was damaged by Hurricane Kyrill.
