Rybník Starý u Líchov, Protected natural pond in Zvírotice, Czech Republic.

Rybník Starý u Líchov is a protected natural pond located near Zvírotice with shallow shores and dense reed beds. The water body supports a variety of plants and animals that depend on wetland habitats for survival.

The pond was declared a natural monument by the Central Bohemian Regional Authority, effective 26 November 2016. The protected area covers about three hectares at 348–350 m in the Zvírotice cadastral territory and largely overlaps the European site Rybník Starý u Líchov. The pond itself formed through land-drainage works, and its basin is now mostly silted up.

The pond lies on the road from Líchov to Zvírotice in the Zvírotice cadastral area. Its name, Stará voda (Old Water), appears in the protection designation; the site is also a European significant locality. The surrounding fields, pastures and meadows have long been farmed intensively.

The site is accessible year-round via marked paths starting from Zvírotice village. Parking facilities are available near the local municipal office for visitor convenience.

The protected species is the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina), recorded here in only a few individuals, with a probably declining population. Long-term drainage of the pond limits amphibian reproduction. The endangered rose chafer Pachnoda marginata peregrina and the dark chafer Oxythyrea funesta are also found here.
