Křížkův mlýn, Watermill in Bláhova Lhota, Czech Republic.
Křížkův mlýn is a timber watermill building with a granary for storage and a black kitchen featuring an open hearth. The complex contains functional spaces showing how the mill operation worked and supported the people living there.
The mill was established in 1507 and processed grain until 1890 using original machinery. It operated alongside an adjacent oil processing facility that was part of the same complex.
The site reflects how millers and their families lived and worked together in one place. The preserved rooms show the daily rhythm of traditional milling communities in this region.
The mill sits in a stream valley and is accessible from the main road via a short marked path. Wear sturdy shoes as the ground around the buildings can be uneven and muddy depending on the season.
The complex preserves a black kitchen, a room with an open fire that had no chimney and let smoke escape through the roof. This type of kitchen was common across central Europe but rarely survives intact today.
