Scholzeho větrný mlýn, Dutch windmill in Václavice, Czech Republic
Scholzeho větrný mlýn is a traditional windmill structure located in Václavice in northwestern Czech Republic. The building served as a grain processing facility and now stands as a protected cultural monument in this region.
Carpenter and miller Josef Scholze built this windmill between 1842 and 1843 during a severe drought that disrupted grain processing in the area. The mill operated until 1875, when its wind wheel was dismantled and regular operations ceased.
The structure represents traditional Czech agricultural engineering and received recognition as a cultural monument for its architectural and historical importance.
Visitors can explore the restored building, which now functions as accommodation with multiple rooms and modern facilities. The property sits in a rural setting between two villages and offers parking along with easy access to nearby walking paths.
The mill maintained an annual processing capacity of 14,000 to 16,000 measures of grain until operations ceased in 1875, when the wind wheel was dismantled.
