Wiplerova vila

Wiplerova vila is a Neo-Renaissance villa in Hradec Králové distinguished by a striking corner tower and inner layout. The two-story building with a cellar features a central elongated corridor connecting all rooms, and interiors retain decorative stucco rosettes throughout.

The villa was built between 1902 and 1903 for Karel Wipler, a gymnasium professor and city councilor, designed by architect Vaclav Rejchl senior. It represents the building practices of the affluent merchant class in early 20th century Bohemia.

The building reflects how wealthy citizens of Hradec Králové decorated their homes in the early 20th century, favoring elegant Neo-Renaissance forms and craftsmanship. Colored plaster work and sgrafitto ornaments on the corner tower were signs of prosperity and artistic taste.

The villa is located near the riverside in the Orlické nábřeží area and is reachable on foot from the city center. As a private residence, it can be viewed from outside, but visitors should inquire ahead about access to the interior.

The house was originally designed for two families and a caretaker, maintaining this shared use across generations. This practical layout reveals how affluent property owners structured their homes as income sources.
