Loučná nad Desnou Castle

Loučná nad Desnou Castle is a 17th-century residence with classical architecture and symmetrical wings located in the village of Loučná nad Desnou. The building sits within an extensive English-style park that spreads across several hectares with walking paths throughout.

The castle began as a wooden hunting lodge built by the Zierotin family in 1608 and gradually grew into a substantial residence. Over the following centuries, it underwent numerous modifications that shaped its classical appearance.

The château is registered as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and reflects the architectural tastes that Moravian nobility favored during the Habsburg period. These preferences shaped the classical forms and symmetrical design that remain visible today.

The interior of the residence is not open to visitors, but the surrounding park maintains regular hours and features walking paths. The pathways are well-organized, making it easy to explore the grounds and observe the building from different angles.

The park holds botanical specimens planted in 1839 when the gardens underwent a shift from formal design to English landscape style. These living plants form a hidden layer of history that adds depth to a walk through the grounds.
