Salesiánské divadlo, Community theatre in Kobylisy district, Prague, Czech Republic

Salesiánské divadlo is a performance venue within the Salesian Youth Center in the Kobylisy district, equipped with spaces for amateur theatrical groups and art schools. The facility hosts a range of productions from theatrical performances to concerts and artistic presentations.

Construction of Salesiánské divadlo began in July 1936 alongside the Salesian Institute, on the initiative of Cardinal Štěpán Trochta, its first director; the building was finished in 1937. Seized and nationalized in 1950, it was renamed Klicperovo and served as an occasional stage until 1989. At the end of 1991 it became the first building returned to the Salesians.

The theatre functions as a community gathering space where local groups and youth organizations present their work and performances. It reflects how the Salesian mission incorporates education and arts into neighborhood life.

The building stands on Kobyliské náměstí 640/11, a short walk from Kobylisy metro station on line C. It has been closed since 2020, so there are no performances to attend; the hall seated 397 spectators when it operated. The former theatre can still be viewed from the square outside.

The hall seats 397 spectators. After the 1948 parish expansion, Mass was celebrated inside the theatre because the church could not hold the congregation. From 1950 the building was renamed Klicperovo and used only as an occasional stage until 1989.
