Budčický mlýn

Budčický mlýn is a watermill on the Sázava River with original milling equipment dating from the 1800s. The building features a water wheel and mechanical components that show how grain was processed by hand.

The building was first mentioned in documents from the 1500s but was completely rebuilt around the 1890s. A lawyer named Josef Vaněk modernized it and gave it the structure it has today.

The mill represents how communities once depended on water power for daily work and survival in the region. The building tells the story of skilled craftsmen who understood how to harness the river for grain processing.

The site is located along a walking trail between two nearby villages and can be viewed from the outside. It is easy to reach if you are exploring the area, particularly while hiking along the river valley.

The building uses a special turbine to generate electricity, blending historical craftsmanship with modern power production. This combination shows how an old structure can serve new purposes while keeping its heritage intact.
