Brdičkův mlýn

Brdičkův mlýn is a watermill situated along the Sázava River, maintained by a museum in Brno and featuring working water wheels. The buildings contain original milling equipment and demonstrate how iron processing and later grain milling operations took place.

The mill originated in the 13th century as an iron-processing facility to handle ore from the surrounding area. It later transformed into a grain mill and operated in this form until World War II.

The exhibition focuses on how the Brdíček family lived and worked here, with emphasis on iron-processing techniques used in daily operations. Visitors can see the tools and machines that powered the work of past generations.

The location requires walking through rural terrain to reach Hamry nad Sázavou, so sturdy footwear is recommended. Weather can affect access, particularly after heavy rain, so check conditions before visiting.

Artisans demonstrate traditional iron-working techniques during special events using the mill's still-functioning water-powered mechanism. These rare demonstrations reveal how water energy was converted into mechanical force for specialized craftsmanship.
