Sterzmühle

Sterzmühle is a watermill with baroque features located in Mochov, positioned along a creek that once powered its grinding machinery. The complex mixes sturdy stone construction for the mill itself with a wooden residential section topped by a covered timber gallery.

The mill was built in the second half of the 18th century to grind grain for surrounding agricultural communities. It served as an important local facility where farmers brought their harvest for processing into usable flour and meal.

The mill structure combines industrial functionality with baroque architectural elements, reflecting the technical and artistic standards of Czech rural construction.

The mill is situated near Hartmanice in a rural area that is best reached by car. The site is open to walk around, with straightforward paths that let you explore the grounds at your own pace.

The mill complex includes the main building, a stone barn, and a water system that demonstrates historical milling operations in the Pekelske Valley.
