Town hall in Rokycany

The Rokycany town hall is a Baroque structure on Masarykovo Square that displays the style's characteristic proportions and architectural details across its facade. The building presents a symmetrical form with ordered window rows and a composed appearance befitting a civic centerpiece.

The current building was constructed between 1804 and 1808 following the design of architect Ignác Jan Nepomuk Palliardi. It replaced an earlier town hall that fires had destroyed in the previous century.

The town hall anchors the heart of Rokycany on Masarykovo Square, where locals and visitors naturally gather and observe the rhythm of civic life. The building demonstrates how a community expressed its values through solid, dignified architecture meant to last generations.

The town hall sits centrally on Masarykovo Square and is easily reached on foot from most parts of town. Visitors can view the building and its architecture from the square at any time of day.

In May 1945, American and Soviet troops met here as their advance lines converged during the final days of World War II. This encounter marked a symbolic moment marking the end of the war in Europe.
