Nový zámek Libějovice

Nový zámek Libějovice is a stone château with a rectangular main body and projecting wings arranged in an E-shaped plan. The structure features classical columns supporting balconies, with double-saddle roofs covering the different sections.

The Lords of Buquoy commissioned this château starting in 1696, with construction spanning about 60 years. The extended building period allowed for the integration of different architectural movements as tastes evolved.

The building blends two distinct architectural periods in its design, visible in the decorative elements and structural choices throughout the facade. This fusion reflects how noble families adapted their homes to changing tastes over several decades.

The château is currently closed to the public and only viewable from the outside due to its deteriorated condition. Visitors should exercise caution when approaching and plan for an exterior-only visit.

The château features an unusual E-shaped floor plan, with symmetrical wings radiating from a central core. This distinctive layout was an innovative approach to creating spacious and practical room arrangements for the era.
