Čestice Castle, Medieval château in Čestice, Czech Republic.

Čestice Castle is an early Baroque single-storey building with two wings forming an L-shape. A hexagonal clock tower rises at its left corner. The facade is divided by continuous pilaster strips into seven bays of windows, with the main gate in the second bay from the south, and horizontal terracotta bands and reliefs. A low wall with a round bastion and decorative loopholes runs below the castle.

Vilém Přech converted an older fortress southwest of today's building into a first castle; its cellars and stonework survive in the park. Benigna Kateřina Hochhauserová began a new castle that burned before completion, and she fled her creditors. The Říčanský family bought the estate and finished the building in 1690–1702. Count Rey, owner from 1815, made it a year-round residence and laid out the park.

The castle's entrance gate displays the Čestice coat of arms, granted in 1908 when Emperor Franz Joseph I elevated the village to a market town. The shield shows a carp recalling the Přech family, a band of linden leaves, and a chapel representing the Kalvárie pilgrimage site with its Stations of the Cross. Since 1946 the building has housed a school kitchen, later a laundry, a kindergarten, and since 1952 classrooms and apartments.

The castle stands above the Peklov stream valley in the centre of Čestice. The municipal office, registry, wedding hall and local library occupy the building, so parts are open during office hours. The memorial hall with former castle inventory, hunting trophies and old farm tools can be visited, and the courtyard hosts theatre and music performances.

The castle's entrance gate carries the Čestice coat of arms granted in 1908, when Emperor Franz Joseph I raised the village to a market town. It shows a carp recalling the Přech family, a band of lime leaves, and a chapel in the lower field, a reference to the Kalvárie with its Stations of the Cross above the village.
