Church of the Visitation of Our Lady

The Church of the Visitation of Our Lady is a Gothic building in Běšiny featuring pointed windows and elaborately carved keystones bearing family coats of arms. The structure shows the craftsmanship of medieval stonework through its ornately shaped window and doorway openings.

Construction began in 1360 under King Charles IV and was completed by 1375, reflecting the stability and prosperity of that era. The extended building period allowed craftsmen to carefully execute details and establish the structure securely.

The interior blends Gothic architecture with 18th century baroque furnishings, showing how different artistic periods have shaped this space. The family who owned the church had their coats of arms carved into the stonework as a way to mark their connection to the building.

The building is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and monitored by the Culture Ministry to ensure the structure remains secure. Visitors should come dressed in layers since historic churches are typically cool inside.

Inside are historical gravestones marking individuals connected to this place who found their final rest within these walls. These stones stand as quiet witnesses to centuries of religious life at this site.
