Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Orthodox church at Slovanské náměstí, Kroměříž, Czech Republic

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius is an Orthodox church on Slovanské náměstí in the Slovan housing estate on the edge of Kroměříž, between the Kroměříž Library and a park with Vincenc Vingler's Birds fountain. Built in 1946–1948, it is a domed building in Byzantine style, its interior decorated with numerous icons.

Built between 1946 and 1948 by Archimandrite Vsevolod Kolomacký, the church serves as a memorial to those who fell in World War II and to Bishop Gorazd II (Matěj Pavlík), executed in 1942 for aiding the parachutists behind the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. Pavlík had studied at the archbishop's seminary in Kroměříž and served there from 1906 to 1920. Father Čestmír Kráčmar consecrated the church on 4 July 1948; it was entered in the register of monuments on 8 February 1993.

The church is dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, whose name it bears, and it also honours Bishop Gorazd II (Matěj Pavlík), executed in 1942 for helping the parachutists who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich. Pavlík had studied at Kroměříž's archbishop's seminary and served from 1906 to 1920 in the hospital church of the same dedication. The interior is decorated with numerous icons.

The church stands at Slovanské náměstí 1151/3 on the Slovan housing estate at the edge of Kroměříž, not in the old town. It sits between the Kroměříž Library and a park with Vincenc Vingler's Birds fountain sculpture. Access is tied to Orthodox worship, so check times before setting out.

The church honours Matěj Pavlík, who was executed in 1942 for helping the parachutists behind the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. Under the name Gorazd II he had been ordained bishop, and he had earlier served from 1906 to 1920 as pastor in the psychiatric institute's Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius in Kroměříž, where he had also studied at the archbishop's seminary.
