Church of Saint James the Greater, Baroque church in Kladruby, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint James the Greater is a Baroque parish church on Republiky Square in Kladruby u Stříbra, built in 1772–1779. Its rectangular nave ends in a semicircular presbytery, and a prismatic tower with an onion dome and lantern rises above the west facade, with a statue of Saint James in a niche over the entrance. The nave is framed by white pilaster strips and paired volute pilasters; inside, a Czech flat vault rests on two rows of pillars, with barrel vaults over the side spaces.

A Gothic church existed here by 1396, when it was recorded as a filial church of St. Peter. It was damaged in the Hussite wars and again by fire in 1711; after its ceiling collapsed in 1772, a new Baroque church was built on the site between 1772 and 1779, funded by collections and subsidies from the Kladruby Monastery under Abbot Amand Streer. It became a parish church in 1792 and burned again in 1843.

The church stands on the Svatojakubská poutní cesta, the pilgrimage route to the tomb of Saint James the Greater in Santiago de Compostela. Its side altars are dedicated to Saint James and Saint Anne, and a statue of Saint James stands in the niche above the entrance. Stone crosses from the old land routes are displayed in front of the church.

The church stands on náměstí Republiky in Kladruby u Stříbra, on the square's northern side. The medieval Norimberk land route forked here into the Tachov and Přimda branches, and stone crosses from those routes are displayed in a group before the entrance. The building is on the Svatojakubská pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
