Church of Sacred Heart, Roman Catholic church in Malšín, Czech Republic.

The Church of the Sacred Heart in Malšín is a Roman Catholic filial church of the Vyšší Brod parish. Its core is a late 13th-century early Gothic structure with a 14th-century presbytery and sacristy; the south tower was remodeled in 1593, and the nave was vaulted in the Baroque rebuilding around 1700. The church, churchyard and enclosing wall with gate have been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958.

The church began as an early Gothic building at the end of the 13th century, dedicated to Saint Margaret. Its sacristy dates from the early 14th century and the presbytery from the same period. It was recorded as a parish church from 1360 and came under the administration of Vyšší Brod Monastery in 1677. The south tower received a Renaissance remodelling in 1593, with the Rožmberk coat of arms and the date on its ground-floor portal. Around 1700 the nave was vaulted in the Baroque style while the medieval walls were kept, and the tower gained its present form in the second half of the 19th century.

The church is a filial church of the Roman Catholic parish of Vyšší Brod and was under the administration of the Vyšší Brod monastery from 1677. Its dedication changed from Saint Margaret to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A Gothic Madonna statue from this church is now kept in the National Gallery in Prague.

The church stands in Malšín, a village in the Vyšší Brod parish; the church, the surrounding cemetery and the boundary wall with its gate have been a protected cultural monument since 3 May 1958. The tower portal at ground level carries the Rosenberg coat of arms and the year 1593, a detail to look for on the south tower.

The three bells now hanging in the tower were acquired only in 2001, replacing the earlier set. The Gothic Madonna that once stood in this church is now kept in the National Gallery in Prague, so the sculpture a visitor would expect to find here is seen in the capital instead.
