Lipno Treetop Walkway, Wooden observation tower in Lipno nad Vltavou, Czech Republic
The Lipno Treetop Walkway is an elevated wooden path built through a mixed forest near Lipno nad Vltavou, Czech Republic, rising to a height of about 40 meters on 75 wooden pillars. The sides of the path are enclosed with transparent netting so that walkers can see out into the forest while remaining safe.
The walkway opened in 2012 and was the first structure of its kind in the Czech Republic at the time. It was designed to let people experience the forest from above without disturbing the natural setting.
Along the path, wooden sculptures, nest models, and information boards show visitors what lives in the forest around them. These stops are scattered throughout the route so that walkers can learn about local birds and wildlife as they go.
The path has no steep sections and is easy to walk for people with limited mobility, since it was designed with gentle gradients throughout. A chairlift and shuttle bus are available to reach the entrance for those who prefer not to walk to it.
At the end of the route, a 52-meter dry slide runs through the observation tower and offers a fast way down for those who want it. Many visitors only discover this option when they arrive at the top and are not expecting it.
