Králičí ostrov, Lake island in Lipno nad Vltavou, Czech Republic
Králičí ostrov is a small island situated on the Lipno water reservoir in southern Bohemia. It rests about 400 meters from the main shoreline and offers visitors a quiet natural environment to explore from the water.
The island was originally called Hadí ostrov before changing its name when it hosted freely roaming rabbits and guinea pigs. These animals lived on the island from spring through autumn.
The island's concept drew inspiration from the Japanese island of Okunoshima, creating a nature-based attraction for families and animal enthusiasts.
To reach the island, visitors can rent boats or paddleboats from rental facilities near the beach area. The best time to explore is during calm weather when the water is still.
In August 2020, all animals were relocated from the island, fundamentally changing its character. Today it serves as a nature-focused destination for visitors seeking water and calm.
