Bridge over Pastviny Reservoir, Road bridge in Pastviny, Czech Republic

The bridge over Pastviny Reservoir is a reinforced concrete road bridge with a straight deck and two segmental arches anchored in a central pier and two abutments. Its total length is 122.4 m, each arch spans 42.5 m with a rise of 8.25 m, and the deck is 7 m wide (5 m roadway, 1.2 m sidewalks). Vertical concrete struts connect the arches to the deck; the abutments are faced with granite blocks, and riveted steel railings line the deck.

The bridge was built as part of the Pastviny Reservoir project on the Divoká Orlice, designed by Ing. Dr. Zdeněk Prošek and constructed by J. V. Velflík of Prague. The foundation stone was laid on 13 June 1932, work finished in 1934, and after load tests the bridge opened in 1936. It was restored by MADOS MT Kostelec nad Orlicí between September 2016 and July 2017.

The bridge links both shorelines of the reservoir and allows residents and visitors to travel through the area without taking a long detour. As a protected landmark, it demonstrates how infrastructure has shaped daily life in this region for decades.

The structure carries road II/312 and provides a stable connection across the water linking different parts of Pastviny municipality. Visitors can drive across the bridge and enjoy the view of the reservoir area from above.

The bridge was built to a design by technical adviser Ing. Dr. Zdeněk Prošek, with construction carried out by the Prague firm J. V. Velflík. Its foundation stone was laid on 13 June 1932, work finished in 1934, and after load tests it opened to traffic in 1936.
