Český rozhlas headquarters

Český rozhlas headquarters at Vinohradská 12 is a functionalist building with large windows and open spaces, designed by Bohumil Sláma. It houses broadcasting facilities, recording studios, and administrative offices for the country's main public radio broadcaster.

The building was completed in 1933 and represents modern architecture of the interwar period. It became significant in 1945 when civilians defended it against Nazi forces during the Prague Uprising, turning it into a symbol of resistance.

The building remains the place where Czech public radio broadcasts its voice to the nation, playing a central role during times of major change. Walking past it, you can sense how deeply this site is connected to the country's radio history and public life.

The building is located in the Vinohrady district and is easily accessible by metro to Náměstí Míru station which is very close. Several tram lines also stop near Vinohradská tržnice, making it convenient to reach on foot from there.

The interior preserves original oak furniture with brass fittings from 1933, a touch of genuine interwar elegance. A paternoster lift, a slow doorless elevator, still operates and recalls a forgotten form of technology.
