Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Rybáře combines Gothic and Baroque architectural elements in a traditional Czech style. The interior space is shaped by decorative elements that various artists have added over time.

A devastating fire in 1697 destroyed the original building almost entirely, except for a wooden cross that survived the flames. The building was subsequently rebuilt and underwent several transformations.

František Bílek created a series of paintings depicting the Way of the Cross in 1905, which remain visible on the walls today. These artworks shape the spiritual experience inside the building and draw visitors interested in religious art.

The building maintains regular hours and welcomes visitors who want to explore its architectural and artistic features. It is recommended to move slowly through the interior to fully appreciate all the details and artworks.

A special treasure is a Miraculous Cross placed on the High Altar in 1703 with permission from the Bishop of Olomouc. This religious object has maintained a long history of veneration within the local community.
