Budova ČKD na Můstku, Administrative building in Old Town, Prague, Czech Republic
The Budova ČKD na Můstku is a postmodern administrative building positioned at the corner of Na příkopě and Na Můstku streets in the Old Town. Its seven-section main facade features stone panels, with the lower floors containing retail spaces that connect directly to Můstek metro station.
Construction took place from 1976 to 1983 under architects Jan Šrámek and Alena Šrámková, replacing a three-story building from 1902. This project represented a major transformation of the central Old Town location during the late communist era.
The structure received designation as a national cultural monument in 1992, reflecting official recognition of its postmodern design. This status shows how the building fits into Prague's modern architectural landscape.
The building offers direct access to Můstek metro station, making it a convenient stop within the city center. Ground-floor retail and dining venues were updated during a 2003 renovation designed by Alena Šrámková.
The site previously contained part of a medieval moat and a baroque house called Sklenářovský that opened toward the old horse market area. These historical structures disappeared when the modern building was constructed during the 1980s.
