Litovická tvrz

Litovická tvrz is a medieval fortified house in Hostivice, Czech Republic, featuring Gothic windows, a ceremonial hall on the second floor, and a basement constructed from precisely cut marl blocks. The building displays a layered stone construction with internal timber supports typical of structures from this period.

French builders from Avignon constructed this fortification in 1330 under the direction of Prague Bishop Jan IV of Dražice, introducing advanced building techniques to the region. The structure served as a model for later defensive buildings and remained an important example of medieval construction methods.

The structure displays architectural elements typical of medieval Bohemian defensive buildings, featuring timber frameworks for living spaces surrounded by protective stone walls.
