Čap

Čap is a medieval fortress that stands in ruins on a hillside near Zátyní, with scattered stone foundations and wall segments visible throughout the site. The fragmented structures offer glimpses of how the building once occupied the landscape, though nature has gradually claimed much of what remains.

The fortress likely emerged in the late medieval period as a defensive structure protecting the region. Its eventual decline came gradually, leaving scattered remains that testify to the changing settlement patterns of medieval Bohemia.

The Czech Republic designated Čap as a protected cultural monument, recognizing its role in preserving the architectural heritage of the region.

The site is accessible from Zátyní village by following hiking paths that lead uphill from the settlement. Wear sturdy footwear and visit during daylight hours, as some areas can be uneven and difficult to navigate.

The stone formations at Čap create patterns that change throughout the day as sunlight moves across the remaining structures.
