Slůně

Slůnje is a stone elephant statue located in the Schneekoppen Mountains at about 1,375 meters elevation. The figure stands at the site of a former mountain shelter and serves as a distinctive landmark in this alpine setting.

The statue was erected in 1932 to mark a milestone anniversary of a mountain hut that operated between 1912 and 1971. It remains one of the few surviving traces from the era of early mountain tourism development in this region.

The statue remains as a physical marker of the mountain tourism development in the Śnieżnik Mountains during the early twentieth century.

You can reach the statue via marked hiking trails in the Schneekoppen nature reserve, with several routes connecting to nearby mountain paths. The terrain is hilly and visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions at this elevation.

The statue is the last remaining structure at a site where the region's first electrified mountain hut once stood. This historical distinction makes the location a remarkable testament to earlier mountain development.
