Zámka

Zámka is an archaeological site on elevated ground near the Vltava River that contains remains of fortified structures and ancient settlement areas. The location shows multiple periods of occupation layered beneath the surface over centuries.

The place was first settled during the early Bronze Age and later developed into a fortified center. This period of activity ended sometime during the later Bronze Age, after which people abandoned the location.

The site reveals how people worked with metal and traded goods across the region in ancient times. Objects found here show the skills and connections that communities developed during this period.

The site can be reached from the Bohnice area by following marked trails and reading informational panels along the way. Wear sturdy shoes since the ground is uneven and the terrain rises in places.

Excavations revealed that inhabitants buried their dead in circular patterns, suggesting how their society was organized. These burial practices show that the community had clear social structures.
